Personal thoughts.
This web site represents my own personal thoughts and views towards the government of the United States, the various states, and of local municipalities of this nation. I hope no one misunderstands. I love America, and I love the ideals upon which this nation was built. It is the government, and the way that it has manipulated the meaning of the Constitution of the United States and of the Declaration of independence to serve it's own purposes. That is what this site is all about.
I sincerely hope that this site will open up the minds of some of the citizens, and perhaps even some of our politicians as to the legal oppression that we are experiencing in this nation. And perhaps this awareness will lead to an easing of this oppressiveness.
Life, Liberty and what?
The political rulers of our country like to talk an awful lot about oppressive regimes, like Castro's Cuba, Saddam Huesein's Iraq, Kim Jong-il's North Korea, Iran, China and many others. They also like to boast of the freedoms that, we as American citizens enjoy. They talk of the sacrifices that members of our armed forces have made through many wars, both past and present to preserve these freedoms. But we, the American citizens, whether we know it or not, are becoming just as oppressed as any of the citizens of these other nations. I'm sure we are not oppressed by a brutal dictator like a Joseph Stalin, nor are we in the grips of a police state like Adolph Hitler's Nazi Germany, but we are fast becoming oppressed by the law itself.
A nation of laws.
It has been said that we are a nation of laws, and it seems to me, that is all we are becoming is a nation of laws, and just about every aspect of our personal lives in one way or another is dictated to us by the law. Many of the freedoms that we have taken for granted and promised to us by the Declaration of independence, and the Constitution of the United States have been curtailed or even eliminated by the law. These freedoms have been tampered with and trampled upon by non-elected judges who interpret the law according to their own personal bias's, prejudices and ideologies.
In my opinion the idea behind the beginning of law was as a way to make civilized society possible, to give the citizens of that society a structure and to protect the rights of each citizen in relation to one another. A way for all the citizens of that society to live together in peace and harmony. I believe that the only laws that are justified in a free society are the laws that protect the innocent, and the individuals rights, freedoms, and properties.
Too many laws.
All the laws that have been enacted by all the states to protect us from ourselves have severely diminished our civil liberties, and our freedom of choice, they have intruded on our ability to determine the course of our own lives. Whether I wear a seat belt or not is my business, not the business of the government, whether I wear a helmet while driving a motorcycle is also my business not that of the government, and what substances I choose to put into MY body is also my business, not the governments. Whether I choose to gamble with my money is also my business, not the governments. If I choose to pay a prostitute for sex that too is between me and the prostitute, not me and the government, after all it is my money, I have earned it and I believe I have the God given and constitutional right to spend it any way I choose or see fit, whether the government likes it or not.
I also believe, all victim less type criminal laws should be immediately expunged from our legal system. As a society and people I believe we are being suffocated and subjugated by the law. The root of the problem is in my opinion is this. After each and every election we get a whole new group of over zealous politicians who feel it is their duty to enact new laws. They get into office and feel that if they do not propose and enact some new legislation then their constituents are going to feel that there not doing their jobs. The president or governors who sign these bills into law are also afraid if they do not sign these pieces of legislation the electorate is going to feel that they too are not doing their jobs, and of course it all boils down to one thing. They all want to be reelected, they all want the power. And isn't that's what it's really all about, the lust for power?
We need help.
I would like to see is some of our elected officials come to the aid of the citizens of this country and repeal some of these oppressive laws, get them off our backs and make this country what it really should be "FREE". And this I believe is what our forefathers and heroes of our military conflicts, past and present have died and sacrificed for. I don't believe they sacrificed their lives for some rich and powerful politician could become even more rich and powerful. I hope no one misunderstands. I am not advocating that we live in an anarchy, I am not advocating that we live our lives in chaos. I do believe laws that protect the innocent are necessary. As an example traffic laws that make it a crime to drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol are absolutely necessary. Laws that protect our children from predators and abuse are also absolutely necessary. Laws that protect persons and their property from theft or violence are also necessary.
The United States has the greatest percentage of it's population in jails, prisons or some other form of incarceration than any other developed nation on earth. This in my opinion should be an obvious sign that we are lawed to death. Something needs to be done, and done soon, otherwise the situation is only going to get worse. And building more and more prisons is not the answer.
One last thought!
I would just like to leave one last thought for the reader to think about. Every time another law is enacted, we lose just a little bit more of our precious freedoms. I know there are probably a lot of persons out there who may disagree with me and that is there right and I respect them for their beliefs, they feel we need these laws to function as a society, but I totally disagree. We do need laws, but we also need to ease some of the oppression on our civil liberties. I believe it is about time our political rulers and politicians come to the realization that this is country of people, not of laws.
